The field for the 2011 Belmont Stakes betting race is beginning to round out, with the spotlight centered on the two horses that have captured Triple Crown prestige so far this season. Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom is ready to complete its comeback after falling just short of catching Preakness Stakes’ winner Shackleford in the second leg, but can make a statement by pushing the winner of the second leg as it looks to hold on. Shackleford arrived at Belmont Park in New York on Monday where it will continue to work out, and the hope is that it can parlay its Preakness win into one more strong finish.
Shackleford will be among the three favorites for the race, with Animal Kingdom another obvious online sports betting choice, and Kentucky Derby runner up Nehro the third. Nehro has finished second in each of its three races at three-years old, and with the extra rest of remaining out of the Preakness field lending it the freshest legs of the top contenders Nehro should be ready to challenge at the front. Nehro has looked very good at Churchill Downs this past week with some early workouts alongside stablemate Dominus, and trainer Steve Asmussen is very pleased with what he has seen.
