Online Sports Betting – Money Management Key To Sports Betting As Investment

Whether it is the professional handicapper, or the casual sports betting player, the ultimate goal is to win, which is obviously the natural reason for playing in the first place. As the great NFL head coach Herm Edwards once said, “you play to win the game”, and regardless of whether it is $10 or $100 that you wager, it is never fun to lose. While it can be fun to play games and talk about sports with your friends, some people actually handicap sports for a living, and while that may not be a preference for everybody that signs up online, to consider the methods that the professionals use makes sense since they do it for a living. One of the main factors for success that the casual player always seems to overlook is the idea of playing as an investment rather than a challenge of skill or knowledge, and that is the most common reason for failure.

While it is understandable that players might want to outsmart their friends and the pay head bookies and show their friends just how great they are at what they are doing, the best way to approach betting on sports is to treat it as a business investment. Just like the stock market, there will be days that certain stocks are destined to rise, while others will fall, and no stock is always headed in the same direction. Establishing a bankroll to invest with prevents the player from ever going in to a bigger hole than they can afford, while also keeping it business rather than personal. No matter how good the player is they are bound to lose sometimes, so managing the money is key to sports betting as an investment.

Online Sports betting – Security Among The Most Important Sportsbook Factors

While more and more players seem to be getting in on the online sports betting action, it can be hard for a newcomer to determine which site is best suited for them, and where they can earn the most by getting in on the act. Finding a home where you can bet safely and understand that there will be no problems is one of the biggest keys, and to know that your money is secure and will be transferred to and from your account as you wish is another key aspect to getting with the right site. When choosing a site in the beginning, players cant go wrong with three of the top sportsbook reviews sites in the US, which include Betonline, 5Dimes, and Legends.

All three of those sites offer excellent sign-up bonuses, a huge section with a list of daily picks, and a ton of different deposit methods ranging from credit card to check to debit. Most importantly, all three sites offer a secure location where players can feel assured that their money will move as expected, and where they won’t end up having to deal with the kind of problems they would with sites overseas. All three of these sits have found ways to become better over time, as they compete with one another to attract players to play with them. Whether it is the NFL, NBA, or NHL, it only makes sense to play with one of these sites.

College Football Betting – Tide Look For Revenge In BCS Championship Game

The stage is set for the Allstate BCS Championship Game this January in New Orleans, as the country’s top two teams converge on the Mercedes Benz Superdome to determine which team deserves to be called national champion. While it may not project to have the same offensive flare as this year’s Rose Bowl or Fiesta Bowl, the BCS got it right by lining up the No. 1 LSU Tigers and No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide in an SEC rematch for the title, as they were undoubtedly the top two NCAA football teams in the nation all year.

While the sports betting players that wagered on LSU the first time around will argue that the Tigers already proved they were the better team with a 9-6 overtime win at Tuscaloosa, an overtime kick is hardly enough to decide which program is actually stronger, especially considering that the Crimson Tide missed a ridiculous three field goals throughout the contest, which easily would have swung the result in their favor even before the extra period. Alabama head coach Nick Saban has to be having nightmares about those missed kicks, and while the Tigers do deserve to be called No. 1 at this point based on their resume this year, the Tide can change the perception of which program is better with a response on the biggest stage of them all. There is no denying the defensive element of this game with the top two defenses in the nation set to go head-to-head, but this game could feature more offense than expected as Alabama looks to prove it is not the underdog that the sportsbooks have labeled it as.

College Football Betting – Luck Should Be Considered Heisman Favorite According To Cardinal

Andrew Luck should be this year’s sports betting odds favorite to win the Heisman trophy. Just ask the Stanford Cardinal. The school launched a full campaign to lobby for Luck as this year’s winner in what has been termed as an “absolute P.R. blitz” in favor of arguably the most popular player in the nation this season. The campaign included head coach David Shaw conducting a teleconference with the national media in which he was able to give reporters a rare look inside the Cardinal playbook and relay just how well Luck has been able to handle the challenges he has faced this season in regards to his learning and adjustments. While this isn’t the first time that a school has lobbied in favor of one of their player’s winning the award, the circumstances under which Stanford has began its campaign are blatantly obvious.

The favorite to win the Heisman and consensus first overall pick for next year’s NFL draft all year, Luck has lost some of his momentum in recent weeks and is now considered to be in a three-way battle for the honor. The conversation about this year’s Heisman now includes Baylor’s Robert Griffin III and Alabama’s Trent Richardson, both of whom the case can be made deserve the award just as much as Luck does. The pay head bookies that have studied Luck all year will not that he doesn’t even have the best quarterback stats in the country, nor does he play for the best team in the best conference. Just don’t tell that to the Cardinal staff, which are lobbying harder than they have all season for Luck to be awarded the Heisman trophy.

College Basketball Betting – Early Final Four Favorites Look To Showcase Talents

With no NBA and no end in sight to their labor strife, sports betting basketball fans have to be happy to finally have their college ball back, and with it the March Madness tournament that decides the national champion every year. The road to the Final Four can be a difficult one, even for the most talented teams in the country, but if early performances are any indication, here are four pay head favorites to reach the NCAA Final Four in 2012.

One team that has made all the headlines this offseason for their talent, depth, and experience is the North Carolina Tar Heels, which come in to the season ranked first in the preseason polls. With the presence of veterans such as Tyler Zeller and Harrison Barnes, and a strong freshman class, the Tar Heels should have no problem in the ACC before they launch their attack on the national title. When it comes to talented players, there won’t be anyone better than Jared Sullinger of the Ohio State Buckeyes, who opted not to go to the NBA even with the opportunity to be among the top picks. With William Buford providing the perfect outside compliment to his inside game, the Buckeyes should roll to the Final Four. Beyond the Tar Heels and Buckeyes, things get a little more complicated with Pittsburgh, Kentucky, and Kansas all expected to contend. The Wildcats won round one of their betonline heavyweight fight against the Jayhawks with an early-season clash, but it could be a different story in four months when it counts the most. The Panthers once again are a big team that gets a boost from the breakout of Travon Woodall, but once again these three teams have to be considered in a second tier behind the Tar Heels and Buckeyes.

Stanley Cup Betting – Penguins Continue To Prove Championship Depth

If there was one sports betting team that has shown that they have the depth to compete for a Stanley Cup championship this season, it is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Even without captain Sidney Crosby and for the most part of the early year no Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins have started strong with eight wins through their first 11 games to take over first place in the Eastern conference. Malkin has drawn into the lineup in recent games although the team isn’t pushing him while Crosby is expected to be back soon, and when you consider the play of some of their depth performers there really is little doubt that Pittsburgh is once again a Stanley Cup contender out of the NHL Eastern conference.

While Crosby and Malkin are considered to be two of hockey’s biggest pay head offensive stars, the Penguins still rank 10th in the NHL in goals per game without them as they have scored an average of 2.8 goals. Their powerplay and penalty kill percentages both rank in the top-10, while defensively they are third in goals against with an average of just 2.1 against. Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been sporting an incredible 1.96 goals against average in a strong start, while James Neal and Kris Letang have provided a boost in scoring with nine goals and 11 assists respectively. There is still a long way to go before the playoffs even get underway, but with a ton of depth and their two superstars ready to make an impact in the lineup, the Penguins could be the team that lifts the Stanley Cup this season.

Breeders Cup Betting – Uncle Mo Impressing Ahead Of Breeders’ Cup Classic

All season the sports betting horse racing spotlight has shifted from one horse to another, to another and then back again. With the Breeders’ Cup Classic now just a couple of weeks away, that spotlight has shifted back to Uncle Mo, the horse that many considered the favorite to win the 2011 Kentucky Derby. While the horse failed at Churchill Downs the first time around as a three-year old, some feel that trainer Todd Pletcher has it on track to come up with a much better effort at the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic on November 5th.

Uncle Mo spent nearly four intertops months recovering from a major injury, but impressed with a strong showing at the King’s Bishop Stakes at Saratoga in August, and has looked strong again with a couple of phenomenal training runs. After a seven furlong dash and mile test, Uncle Mo will be tested in the 1 ¼ miles run in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, especially considering the impressive field around him. Some feel as though it would be best for the three-year old to rest over the next couple of weeks so that it isn’t too exhausted by the time that it returns, but that isn’t something that Pletcher has expressed any worry about. One of the best trainers in the world, Pletcher will also has Stay Thirsty entered in the biggest race of the fall season, and both that horse and Uncle Mo should have a good pay head shot at coming out with the desired results.

Baseball Betting – Cavaliers Should Be A Lock Opening Weekend In College World Series of Baseball

While the focus will shift from the NHL and NBA playoffs to the MLB betting season over the next week, there is still one game that will take some attention off of baseball at the professional level, although it will remain on the sport. The college baseball World Series of Baseball will open this Saturday in Omaha, with the championship series set for later this month. There are eight teams left on the slate that will determine the best team in college ball, and while the Virginia Cavaliers are once again the favorite the field is wide open for an exciting finish.

Virginia won’t have much of an online sports betting test this weekend when they open against the California Golden Bears, and should be a lock to move through at least the opening round. They’ll likely be joined by the defending champion South Carolina Gamecocks on the arm of top prospect Matt Roth, as well as their rivals to the north in UNC, but the most interesting matchup will be the battle between a couple of the top athletic programs in the country with the Texas Longhorns set to meet the Florida Gators. That showdown will feature two of the best arms in the tournament as the Gators send Hudson Randall to the mound to face Taylor Jungmann to determine which team joins the three other favorites in the second round. The Cavaliers appear to have the most depth, but it will come down to how the bracket unfolds after they clinch their first win this weekend.

Belmont Stakes Betting – Shackleford Will Look To Hold On One More Race To Win Belmont

The field for the 2011 Belmont Stakes betting race is beginning to round out, with the spotlight centered on the two horses that have captured Triple Crown prestige so far this season. Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom is ready to complete its comeback after falling just short of catching Preakness Stakes’ winner Shackleford in the second leg, but can make a statement by pushing the winner of the second leg as it looks to hold on. Shackleford arrived at Belmont Park in New York on Monday where it will continue to work out, and the hope is that it can parlay its Preakness win into one more strong finish.

Shackleford will be among the three favorites for the race, with Animal Kingdom another obvious online sports betting choice, and Kentucky Derby runner up Nehro the third. Nehro has finished second in each of its three races at three-years old, and with the extra rest of remaining out of the Preakness field lending it the freshest legs of the top contenders Nehro should be ready to challenge at the front. Nehro has looked very good at Churchill Downs this past week with some early workouts alongside stablemate Dominus, and trainer Steve Asmussen is very pleased with what he has seen.

Preakness Stakes Betting – Kegasus Predicts Animal Kingdom To Continue Triple Crown Chase

Preakness StakesWith the online sports betting media on hand at Pimlico race track for a press conference ahead of the 2011 Preakness Stakes on Monday, a familiar face made a bold prediction for the second leg of this year’s Triple Crown. The half-horse, half-man mascot for the race is called the Kegasus, and it predicted with certainty that 2011 Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom will win this year’s Preakness Stakes. Animal Kingdom will be the 4-1 early favorite to win the race, but there will be a couple of familiar contenders that will look the challenge it.

Unavailable for the 2011 Preakness Stakes betting race is one of the top early contenders to win this year’s Kentucky Derby in Uncle Mo, which will not go due to a stomach infection that ultimately cost him an opportunity at the race at Churchill Downs. Dialed In was the pre-race favorite at 4-1 at Kentucky, but will be a 10-1 shot at Pimlico after a disastrous eighth-place finish in which he faded early at Kentucky and failed to make any ground. The best couple of chances that there are to push Animal Kingdom are Mucho Macho Man and Nehro, which both looked good at the derby. The case was similar when the season opened with a wide open field in which the early favorites for Kentucky were hammered, but this time Animal Kingdom looks like a legitimate Triple Crown contender to at least come close.
